Who is it for?
The class is ideal if you’re new to Pilates and/or the Pilates Reformer, haven’t exercised in a while, or want to approach our Beginner/Intermediate classes already knowing the Tempo Pilates method and techniques. A basic level of fitness is helpful, but not essential.
What to expect? Why come?
This class focuses on introducing students to the Pilates reformer, techniques and the basic exercises that form the distinctive Tempo Pilates repertoire.
Please note that this class is a workshop focusing on technique and not a regular Tempo Pilates class. As such, the music is softer and there is more explanation and demonstration than in a regular class. If you exercise regularly, or are familiar with the reformer and Pilates principles and techniques you are very welcome to go straight into the Beginner/Intermediate classes.
The reason the classes are useful and should form the start of your journey with Tempo Pilates is that they enable you to approach regular classes with the confidence that you are engaging and activating the right muscles in the right way. Our regular classes are intense and it is important to have the right foundation to build on.
If it’s your first time you should make sure you arrive at least ten minutes early so that you don’t miss the start of the class and to ensure you begin exercising as relaxed and stress-free as possible. For health and safety reasons and out of consideration for your fellow students we cannot allow you to participate if you are more than five minutes late for the start of any class.
What to wear?
Wear something that allows you to move easily such as stretch pants and a vest top, or shorts and a t-shirt. You will get hot during our classes so it is important to be comfortable. For hygiene reasons we recommend students wear socks in class.
Water and towels are available to purchase/hire at the studio.
